Here at Bones We’ve been hating on Auto-Tune since way back, I mean WAAAYYYY, before it was even made. Then Jay Z (english accent please) comes along and makes a record about how much he hate auto-tune, how its dead and stuff. Then suddenly everyone’s listening… they weren’t listening when I was saying it, just because I’m not some sort of rapper/mogul/banger of Beyonce/multi-millionaire. Jay Z, we’re now hating on you.
New Work From JR
You might be aware of JR’s work, he is a photographer that creates open space photo galleries out of our streets. He has worked and created these galleries all over the world and in the places that the people in his photos live most famously the favelas in Rio. In his new work looks at the women of Africa; photos from Sudan, Sierra Leone, The Ivory Coast and Kenya, where the exhibtion took place. Its amazing to see the people take part in this wonderful idea. Hats off.
“WOMEN The project aims to highlight their central role and to highlight their dignity by their portrait photography with a 28 mm, and then pasting these portraits on the walls of their country. Kenya, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Liberia - Violence against women during armed conflicts in Africa are the most extreme discrimination they face in peacetime. The ethnic wars in Africa are the source of the worst crimes committed against women. By meeting these women, JR wants to show their strength, their courage and their struggle: to live first, then to exist.”
